Cleantec Supports the Saint Agatha Foundation Gala: A Night of Giving and Commitment
February 13, 2025
On October 24th, Cleantec was honored to attend the Saint Agatha Foundation Gala at The Oncenter in Syracuse, NY. The evening marked the 15th anniversary of the foundation’s unwavering mission—providing financial assistance to breast cancer patients in Central New York. It was a night filled with inspiration, heartfelt stories, and a shared commitment to helping those in need.
A Legacy of Compassion: The Saint Agatha Foundation
The Saint Agatha Foundation was established by Laurie Mezzalingua, who battled breast cancer for 12 years before her passing in 2009. During her fight, Laurie saw firsthand the financial burden the disease placed on patients and their families. Determined to ease this hardship, she created the foundation to ensure that breast cancer patients could focus on healing rather than financial strain.
15 years later, Laurie’s mother, Kathleen Mezzalingua, continues her daughter’s mission. The foundation has helped over 12,000 patients by covering essential expenses, from treatment costs to daily living needs. At the gala, attendees celebrated these achievements while recommitting to the foundation’s purpose.
Cleantec’s Commitment to the Community
As a company with deep roots in Syracuse, NY, Cleantec believes in giving back to the community. Our involvement in the Saint Agatha Foundation Gala reflects our commitment to supporting causes that make a tangible difference.
Our executive team was proud to represent Cleantec at this meaningful event. By sponsoring the gala, we joined a network of businesses and individuals dedicated to uplifting breast cancer patients and their families.
An Evening of Reflection and Hope
The gala was more than a fundraising event—it was a celebration of resilience and generosity. Guests heard moving testimonies from patients who have received support, as well as tributes to the doctors, caregivers, and donors who have played pivotal roles in their journeys.
The event also honored Laurie Mezzalingua’s legacy and the continued efforts of the foundation’s supporters. With each story shared, the importance of community involvement became even clearer.
Why This Matters
Breast cancer remains one of the most common and costly illnesses affecting women today. In New York State alone, over 15,000 women are diagnosed each year. The financial impact can be devastating, particularly in areas like Syracuse and Watertown, where poverty rates are high.
The Saint Agatha Foundation bridges this gap, ensuring that no patient has to choose between treatment and financial stability. Their work is life-changing, and Cleantec is proud to stand beside them in this mission.
Looking Ahead
At Cleantec, we believe that businesses thrive when communities thrive. Supporting organizations like the Saint Agatha Foundation is not just an act of charity—it’s a responsibility.
We extend our gratitude to the foundation’s team, event chair Lydia Johnson, and the evening’s master of ceremonies, Jim Towey, for making the gala such a success. Most importantly, we thank the patients, survivors, and families who shared their stories and reminded us why this cause is so vital.
As we move forward, Cleantec remains dedicated to philanthropy, community service, and making a real impact. We encourage others to learn more about the Saint Agatha Foundation and explore ways to contribute.
Together, we can help those who need it most—one step, one donation, and one commitment at a time.
